About Bear

Bear is a real-life Build-A-Bear. Playful, spunky, and endlessly curious, he can only be described as having a true zest for life. He's taking in all the sights, sounds, and smells of NYC like an excited kid on vacation. Every squeaky toy, treat, and new block is the best thing he's ever discovered.

Bear is energetic and still has that puppy spirit. He loves playing catch and tug-of-war, rolling around on the rug like a baby seal, and is always ready to head out for a walk. Then he will gladly plop down for a nap with little yips in his sleep. His personality is bigger than his little body, and you can't help laughing at his goofiness.

He's incredibly trusting and affectionate. In less than an hour of being in his foster home, he was happily rolling onto his back for belly rubs and doesn’t mind being picked up at all. Wherever you go, Bear is happily trotting behind like a little sidekick, interested in whatever you're doing.

Bear is approximately 1y 11m 8d old and is fully grown at 15 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done.

Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog.

Mixed / Unknown breed temperament

Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed. The rescue's write-up is the best guide.

Exercise

Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.

In a NYC apartment

Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
