About Pam

Meet Pam — also known as Pammy, Pamjam, Lovie, Lovebug, Nugget, and The Princess.

Pam is an incredibly sweet girl with a little bit of sass thrown in, and we wouldn't have her any other way! She is a total love bug who wants nothing more than to be close to her people — resting her head on her strawberry pillow or her emotional support carrot, snuggled up against you at night. She has the most expressive ears and a notable pair of eyebrows, and everyone who meets her comments on just how sweet she is.

That said, she definitely has a sassy side! She has very strong opinions about when dinner should happen and will absolutely let you know if she thinks you're running late — even if that's at 4 pm. She is incredibly food-motivated and will do anything for a treat, including walking on a treadmill to help strengthen her senior leggies!

At home, Pam loves nothing more than curling up on the biggest pile of pillows or blankets she can find. She takes bone-burying very seriously, though the remembering-where-she-put-them part is a little trickier. She'll bark at the spot where a bone should be until someone comes to help with the search! She sleeps in the bed and will gladly take most of it, leaving about an inch of space for her foster mom, and has been known to trick her out of the good chair to steal the warm spot.

She keeps a close eye on the neighborhood from her favorite second-floor window and has a very serious, completely one-sided rivalry with a 5lb dog named Mushu. She is currently attending physical therapy twice a week for her hind legs and is making real progress — this is temporary while she builds strength and gets back to feeling her best. Pam does best in a quiet home with a predictable routine: no young kids, no other dogs, no crate.

Pam is approximately 9y 4m 12d old and is fully grown at 53.2 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done.

Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog.

Mixed / Unknown breed temperament

Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed. The rescue's write-up is the best guide.

Exercise

Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.

In a NYC apartment

Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
