About Sassy

Hi, I'm Sassy!

If you're looking for a calm, easygoing best friend, I think we might be a perfect match.

I'm about 5 years old, 33 pounds, and I've perfected the art of relaxing. My foster mom says I'm basically a cat disguised as a dog—and honestly, I can't argue with that! My favorite hobby is finding the comfiest spot on the couch and taking a nice, cozy nap. Sometimes I'm stretched out from end to end, and other times I'm curled up into the tiniest little ball. Either way, you'll probably catch me snoozing.

I'm not the type to demand your attention every second of the day. I'm happy just hanging out with my people, and when you come sit next to me, I'd love some head scratches. Those are definitely one of my favorite things.
I take my bully sticks very seriously and will happily show you just how quickly I can make one disappear!

If your idea of the perfect companion is someone who's sweet, low-key, happy to lounge by your side, and always up for a cozy day at home, I think we'd get along just fine. I can't wait to find my forever family and claim my very own spot on the couch. Maybe it'll be yours?

Sassy is approximately 5y 0m 6d old and is fully grown at 33 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done.

Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog.

Mixed / Unknown breed temperament

Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed. The rescue's write-up is the best guide.

Exercise

Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.

In a NYC apartment

Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
